Chennai, Mar 2 (UNI) Practising advocates of Madras High Court today abstained from courts in protest against the Supreme Court stay on the interim order providing 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in Centrally-run educational institutions.

Members of the Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA) led by its President Paul Kankaraj took out a procession, going around the court halls shouting slogans against the Centre.

All advocates stayed away from the courts. However, the judges conducted the proceedings with the litigants.

The agitating advocates insisted the Centre to take immediate steps to withdraw the stay. The court work came to a standstill due to the agitation.
