Lehragaga to be upgraded as sub-division, says Badal

Sangrur, Apr 2 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today announced to grant sub-divisional status to Lehragaga in Sangrur district, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the people of the area.

However, a final decision to this effect wwill be taken within a month in the next Cabinet meeting after completing all the administrative and legal formalities, he said while addressing a massive public meeting at Lehragaga.

Mr Badal said that Lehragaga deserved the status of sub-division as the people of the area had to go to Moonak for their administrative and civil works.

He also announced to set up a 50-bed hospital at Moonak and the construction of byepass at Khanouri.

The Chief Minister said the Punjab Government would soon execute work on the Ghaggar river on a war footing to save the life, property and crops from extensive damage caused due to its fury.

Mr Badal also announced to provide basic facilities, adequate staff and infrastructure to the government hospital at Lehragaga so that it could function properly. He said tht a 66 KV sub station would be set up at Shaikuvas village.

Expressing gratitude to the people for giving a mandate in favour of SAD-BJP alliance, Mr Badal said his Government was committed to fulfilling its poll promises.

Mr Badal assured the people that he would soon hold a Sangat Darshan programme in the area to have a first hand information about their grievances and redress them on the spot with the active participation of the district civil and police administration.

The Chief Minister reiterated his government's firm resolve for the overall development of the state and the welfare of the people.

Sectors like agriculture, industry, power generation and infrastructure would be strengthened, he added.
