Leader, three others of inter-border drug gang nabbed
Phagwara, Apr 2 (UNI) Police nabbed the ring leader and three other members of an inter-border drug smuggling gang, including a Kashmiri, and recovered 7 kg heroin, one car and one mobile sim card on the information gained from two smugglers arrested earlier.
Police sources said attempts were on to get details of the sim card which it suspects was being used to contact smugglers in Pakistan and Afganistan.
The nabbed smugglers were identified as ring leader of the gang Balwinder Singh Balli of village Thathi Jamilsingh, his brother-in-law Sukhchain Singh of Ladheybhai Bhikhipind, Amritsar, among others.
The police made these arrests from Jammu and Kashmir and some parts of Punjab. Police suspects that the consignments of heroin were being brought from Afghanistan by one Ramesh Patwar for supplying in various border villages.
Sukhchain Singh was also the Sarpanch of his village.
Earlier, Police here had arrested two Narcotic Smugglers Gurbaksh Singh and Bariam Singh of Jammu near village Mauli on the National Highway Phagwara and recovered nine kg heroin from them in two raids.
The Police here has, so far this year reportedly seized 16 kg of heroin, Rs one crore per kg in the international market, sources here claimed.
