ISI activities on an increase in the city: BJP
Hyderabad, Apr 2 (UNI) BJP Andhra Pradesh unit President and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya today alleged that Hyderabad becoming the centre for ISI activities and blamed the Congress for resorting to vote-bank politics, resulting in the growth of terrorism in the country.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Dattatreya said terrorism was a threat to the country's unity and integrity and suggested the State Government to appoint an officer of the rank of DGP to head the intelligence wing. strict vigil should be maintained over the activities of those, who sympathise and support terrorist activities, he added.
Intelligence reports said four ISI agents, including a human bomb, had arrived in the city to liquidate top BJP leaders, apart from Mr Dattatreya.
One Muqsood Ahmad (26) was arrested late last night and CDs with provocative speeches were seized from him.
Police was kept on high alert in view of reports about the ISI agents planning 'fidayeen' attacks in the city.
When asked, if the Government had provided any extra security to BJP leaders in view of the reports, Mr Dattatreya refused to comment.
Answering another question, he said the BJP leaders had not asked the Government for any additional security. ''We are taking our own precautions,'' he added.
However, informed sources said Mr Dattatreya had met Home Minister K Jana Reddy along with some other BJP leaders but the details about the meeting have not been revealed to the media.
