IBM inks MoU with St Xavier's
Kolkata, Apr 02 (UNI) IBM today signed a MoU with Kolkata's premier St Xaviers College to conduct IBM India's Accelerated Career Excellence Programme to support India's present need for IT professionals.
IBM had already inked a similar deal with the University of Mysore last year to develop a four-year MS programme in Software Engineering for its employees with Bsc degree.
According to the MoU, IBM would use St Xavier's expertise to run the programme for its employees here to groom them at their workplace.
Kolkata has the second largest IBM employees after Bangalore.
Talking to reporters, IBM Global delivery (Consulting and Application Services) vice-president Amitabh Roy said IBM would provide better oppurtunities to the non-engineering employees and job rotation possibilities within IBM.
He further said IBM would bear the fees for the programme including venue, faculty, infrastructure and examinations.
He also said post their degree, the IBMers would have more scopes to be placed at any IBM locations across the country on different technologies and domains.
St Xavier's principal Rev Fr P C Mathew said such kind of deal between academcia and industry could enable joint curriculum design, research and train the students on market strategic technologies.
