Heat wave in Delhi abates

New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) The heat wave sweeping Delhi since the last week abated today with the Northwesterly winds providing Delhiites some relief from the heat.

The Northwesterlies led to a drop in the maximum temperature in Delhi to 33.1 Degree Celsius, from 39.1 Degree C on Saturday.

Though the minimum rose to 21.9 Degree C, the drop in maximum temperature brought relief to the people.

With weathermen forecasting prevalence of Northwesterly winds over Northwest India, there is likely to be a further drop in day temperature in Delhi and other parts of Northwest India in the coming days.

''Strong Northwesterly, winds are likely to prevail over many parts of NorthWest India over the next few days.

Consequently day temperatures are likely to fall by two to three Degree C over the region during the next 48 hours,''the weather office said.

The weather office has forecast a Sunny day in Delhi tomorrow with the possibility of strong surface winds.

The maximum temperature tomorrow is likely to stay at around 33 Degree C.

Delhiites have been reeling under scorching heat for the last four to five days with the mercury rising sharply to 39.1 Degree Celsius on Saturday, six degrees above normal.
