Exports up by 23% Apr-Feb 2006-07

New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) Exports for the period April-February registered a 22.95 per cent growth at Rs 49,5347.28 crore as against Rs 39,3157.16 crore during the same period last year.

The exports during the month of February were valued at Rs 42,841.09 crore as compared to Rs 3,4729.43 crore in February 2006, according to the data available from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S).

The cumulative value of imports during April-February was Rs 7,48,440.60 crore which was higher than Rs 5,58,992.18 ccrore during April-February 2006.

Imports during February 2007 were valued at Rs 63,423.19 crore as compared to Rs 48,939.50 crore during the corresponding period last year.

Crude oil imports were valued at 4061.40 million dollar in February 2007 as against 4109.96 million dollar in the corresponding period last year, registering a negative growth of 1.18 per cent.

Crude oil imports during April-February, 2007 stood at 52,673.46 million dollar, which was 32.52 per cent higher than crude oil imports of 39,748.35 million dollar in the corresponding period last year.

Non-oil imports were estimated at 10,301.29 million dollar during February, which was 39.77 per cent more than 7,370.07 million dollar in February 2006.

Non-oil imports during April-February 2007 were valued at 1,12,311.85 million dollar, which was 25.67 per cent higher than the level of such imports valued at 89,370.42 million dollar for the corresponding perod last year.

The trade deficit for April-February was estimated at 55,858.54 million dollar, which was higher than the deficit of 37,575.61 million dollar during April-February, 2006.
