Curfew in MP township
Bhopal, Apr 2 (UNI) Curfew was clamped at 1700 hrs today in Madhya Pradesh's sensitive Rajgarh district's Narsinghgarh township following tension in the wake of stone-pelting between two communities and subsequent arson targeting shops.
A report said that some persons were injured and the police lobbed tear gas shells before firing in the air to disperse a mob.
''Slogan-shouting and stone-pelting took place this afternoon while a religious procession was taken out. Platoons of the Special Task Force, Rapid Action Force and Special Armed Force have been rushed from Bhopal,'' Inspector-General (Law and Order) Ashok Soni told UNI.
The District Collector and Superintendent of Police have reached the township. Inspector-General (Bhopal Range) Sanjeev Kumar Singh also left for Narsinghgarh.
Communal tension led to curfew being clamped for about a week in Rajgarh district's Bioara recently.
Prohibitory orders were imposed in Chhatarpur district's Naugaon this afternoon after tension following a dispute between two communities in the wake of a religious poster and banner being torn last night.
