CPI demands distribution of assigned lands to poor

Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, April 02 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today demanded the state government to immediately distribute the assigned lands in West Godavari district to poor people.

Addressing a media conference here this afternoon, Mr. Dega Prabhakar, Secretary, District Council of CPI said the party would hold "mass hunger strike" on April 4 in front of four divisional revenue offices to press this demand.

He said in West Godavari alone, as per the available information, 70,000 Acres of assigned, forest lands were still in the clutches of big land holders.
