Chakrapani elected Legislative Council Chairman unanimously

Hyderabad, Apr 2 (UNI) Mr A Chakrapani of the Congress was today unanimously elected chairman of the newly constituted Legislative Council.

Mr Chakrapani was the sole candidate to file his nomination by 1700 hrs when the deadline closed for filing nominations and he was declared elected unanimously.

Mr Chakrapani's candidature was cleared by the Congress High Command. As no other party had the numerical strength to field a candidate for the post, no other nomination was filed.

Mr Chakrapani is a senior member of the Congress and was Deputy Chairman before the Legislative Council was abolished.

Talking to reporters after his election, Mr Chakrapani said the unanimous election had put more responsibility on his shoulders and assured to live upto the expectations of members. He said he would ensure that the Council would help resolve the issues of people.
