TN: Panguni car fest at Sri Ranganatha Temple

Srirangam (Tamilnadu), Apr 2: Hundreds of devotees congregated at the historic Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple for the annual 'Panguni Therottam' (car festival held in the auspicious Tamil month of Panguni) here today.

Braving scorching heat, devotees, including women and children, led by Temple Executive Officer P Sivakumar pulled the decorated 'Goratham' (temple car) carrying the procession deity of Lord Namperumal.

The car was taken around 'Chithirai Veedhis' or the four important streets around the temple.

Special poojas were organised to the presiding deity Lord Ranganatha on the eve of the car festival.

The temple authorities in coordination with the police and Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) volunteers made elaborate arrangements and state transport corporation plied special buses to the temple from various parts of the district for the occasion.
