BJP to run campaign against Congress and UPA Governments

Hyderabad, Apr 2 (UNI) BJP Andhra Pradesh president and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said that the BJP would organise public meetings for a week from April six, the foundation of the party and create awareness about the failures of the Congress Government in the state and the UPA Government at the Centre.

Talking to newspersons here he said on the occassion of BJP completing 27 years on April six, party flag would be hoisted all over the state including villages.

Charging that the Congress had cheated the people of Telangana, the BJP leader said the party had promised to form a separate Telangana state in its election manifesto and was trying to bury the issue now. The party would create awareness among the people of Telangana about the ''betrayal'' of the Congress, he added.

On the decision of the Government to locate the IIT sanctioned by the Centre in Medak district, the BJP leader said it was a deliberate ''conspiracy'' on the part of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Reminding that the Assembly passed resolutions twice urging the Centre to locate the IIT in Basara in Nizamabad district, Mr Dattatreya said it was shocking that Mr Reddy had not even called an all-party meeting before taking the decision to locate it in Medak district.

When asked how the chief minister could go against the recommendation of the high powered technical committee appointed for the purpose of selecting a location for the IIT, he alleged that Dr Reddy had the Committe's report with him even when the Assembly was in session and deliberately announced his decision after the session was over.

On the Chief Minister's son Jaganmohana Reddy being sanctioned 487 acres and his offering the lands back to the Government following criticism from the opposition, Mr Dattatreya said ''he offered to return the lands but not the valuable lime stone mines.
