BJP files violation of code complaint against Shastri

New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) The Delhi Bhartiya Janata Party today complained to the state election commission that Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri had violated the model code of conduct for the MCD elections by promising the youth unemployment allowance.

In a press conference yesterday, Mr Shastri had promised unemployment allowance for youth who had been registered with the employment exchange for two years.

''The statement issued by Mr Yoganand Shastri is in clear violation of the model code of conduct as it promises that the youth will be given unemployment allowance by the Delhi government which amounts to alluring the voters when the elections to the MCD are in process,''BJP Delhi Pradesh president Harsh Vardhan and BJP Delhi incharge Vijay Kumar Malhotra said in a letter addressed to Delhi election commissioner S P Marwah.

Talking to reporters, Mr Harsh Vardhan, commenting on the statement, said,''from where will the government pay unemployment allowance to the youth when it could not even arrange for their education.'' ''Why it has been reminded of paying unemployment allowance when only three days are left for the MCD elections?,''he asked saying the Congress was in power for the last nine years.

''The Government which is unable to provide power and water, how it will pay unemployment allowance to the people? Price spiral is at its climax. 40 per cent people are not being supplied drinking water and 30 per cent people do not get the supply of power,''he claimed.
