Varanasi, Apr 2 (UNI) Maintaining his party was committed to the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, BJP National General Secretary Vinay Katiyar today demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh revive the Ayodhya cell constituted during the previous NDA government at the Centre.

''Construction of a grand Ram Temple at Ayodhya is a cultural commitment for the BJP and not a political issue,'' Mr Katiyar, one of the frontal leaders of the Ram Temple movement, told newspersons here.

Mr Katiyar said ''In true terms the temple of Ram Lalla had been constructed at Ayodhya on December 6, 1992 and now the work on its beautification remains.'' The BJP leader also demanded that the 'Ayodhya cell' constituted by the them Central government during the Atal Behari Vajpayee-led NDA regime be revived by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

''The cell had finalised the blueprint of Ram Temple as well as a Cultural centre at Ayodhya, but after the ouster of the NDA government it was scrapped,'' he added.

''If the UPA government was serious in resolving the Ayodhya tangle, it needed to first revive the Ayodhya cell and then implement the blueprint, Mr Katiyar demanded.

Blaming the UPA government for importing sub-standard wheat from Australia, Mr Katiyar said: The wheat being imported from the Kangaroo nation is not even worthy of being consumed by pigs.''
