Jaipur, Apr 2 (UNI) The 'Thar Express' often termed the Friendship train between India and Pakistan resounded to the wails of a newborn, when a Pakistani mother gave birth to a baby girl on the Zero Line, with the help of her co-passengers.

According to eyewitnesses, Anuda Afzal was on the way to her maternal home in Jodhpur for delivery by the Thar Express. Suddenly she went into labour and gave birth to a daughter between Khokrapar and Zero Line early Saturday morning.

Her co-passengers, both Indian and Pakistanis, helped Anuda during delivery.

The Thar Express, which was running eight hours late, reached Jodhpur on Sunday. Anuda's parents mother Shenaz and father Mohammad Afzal were waiting for their granddaughter to arrive.

Overwhelmed with joy, grandfather Afzal named her granddaughter Laiba, seeing tears on the newborn's face. A sizable crowd gathered at the Jodhpur station to see Laiba.
