925 km strategically important roads in Rajasthan need repair
Jaipur, Apr 2 (UNI) At least 925 km of Rajasthan's total 3850 km of strategically important road route are in need of immediate repair.
Stating this at the Vidhan Sabha today while answering a query during Question Hour, PWD minister Rajendra Rathore said state's highway comprising 47 km from 16 Sindari to Jalore is totally damaged and needs at least Rs 591 lakh for repair. This part of road was damaged during August last year.
The roads, which cannot be repaired by the road maintenance department, will be maintained by PWD department.
Mr Rathore said Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had written to the defence minister citing the need for maintenance of roads which are of strategic importance.
He informed that recommendations of Civil Military Liasion Committee are taken into consideration for maintenance of such roads. At least 262 km each road were repaired in the year 2005-06 and 2006-07.
