XLRI observes 51st annual convocation
Jamshedpur, Apr 1 (UNI) Altogether 230 students of Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) received diplomas in a glittering ceremony at the JRD Tata auditorium on the occasion of the B-school's 51st annual convocation here.
Out of 230 students graduating, 65 were from the personnel management and industrial relations programme, 116 from the business management programme, 44 from the executive post graduate programme, out of which two students were awarded the prestigious title of XLRI fellowship and three were awarded the fellowship in human resource development by XLRI in association with the Academy of Human Resource Development, Ahmedabad.
Tata Sons Ltd Executive Director R Gopalakrishnan was the chief guest on the occasion.
In addition to the convocation ceremony, the prestigious Sir Jahangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace was conferred to ICICI Managing Director K V Kamath last evening.
While Mr GopalKrishnan said, ''India was marching ahead to become the global leader as our country has the potential to lead the world.'' Mr Kamath called upon the students to grab the opportunities as the country was experiencing a knowledge revolution.
Delivering the presidential address, Tata Steel Managing Director B Muthuraman said, ''Life is full of action and reflections and it is necessary to combine the two for an all round development.'' Welcoming the guests XLRI Director, Father C Casimir Raj shed light on the various achievements of the institute and its students and faculty during the last academic year.
