Two students die, one seriously injured in grenade explosion

Dehradun, Apr 1 (UNI) Two students were killed and one was seriously injured in a hand grenade explosion at Srinagar in Garhwal district of Uttarakhand.

According to the police sources, Sandeep, Deva and Abhilash went to the firing range of Seema Shastra Bal (SSB) at about 2000 hrs last night where they found a live hand grenade. When they took the grenade in their hands, it suddenly exploded injuring all the three.

On hearing the explosion, local people reached the spot where they found all the three lying in a pool of blood. They were rushed to the Base Hospital where Sandeep and Deva died. The seriously injured Abhilash has been admitted to Jolly Grant Hospital.

All the three were students of tenth class. It is the third instance of grenade explosion in 15 years. Earlier in 1994 two Bihari labourers died and one youth died four years back in a similar incident. Police have initiated an investigation.
