Tohra's third death anniversary function held

Patiala, Apr 1 (UNI) The third death anniversary of former president Late Gurcharan Singh Tohra was observed by his family at Village Tohra here today.

The late leader's wife Joginder Kaur paid tributes to her late husband at the family's ancestral house in a simple function including Shri Akhand path and bhog ceremony.

Late Tohra's son-in-law Harmail Singh Tohra and other family members, SGPC general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, SGPC member Karnail Singh Panjoli, SAD senior leader R S Libra who was close to late Tohra and Baba Harnam Singh paid tributes to Tohra today.

Harmail Tohra had participated in state level function on March 25 as well.

No member of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's family was present on the occasion. The fuction also did not have any representative of SAD (Amritsar), SAD (Delhi) or DSGMC.

Earlier, the SAD (Badal) had organised the death anniversary function on March 25 where Joginder Kaur Tohra was conspicuous by her absence. The SAD (B) acting president Sukhbir Singh Badal, had however, met her the same day to take her blessing and later told the press that Mrs Tohra had been unable to attend the function due to ill-health.

Mrs Tohra attended a function two days later, organised by Manjit Singh Calcutta at Chandigarh.

SGPC member Karnail Singh Panjoli is also organising a separate function in late Tohra's memory at his village Panjoli on April 2, where senior SAD leader Manjit Singh Calcutta will inaugurate a complex in late Tohra's memory.

Mr Calcutta was close to late Tohra and instrumental in patch up of late Tohra and SAD president Parkash Singh Badal.
