TDP warns of agitation against Babli project
Hyderabad, Apr 1 (UNI) TDP leader and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said his party would launch an agitation against the construction of Babli project on river Godavari by Maharashtra.
Calling the construction as ''illegal,'' the opposition leader said his party would wait till the fifth of this month for the project construction works to be stopped and launch an agitation on the sixth.
Stating that Sriram Sagar project in the state would dry up if Babli project was completed, he said the Congress government would be solely responsible for the disaster caused by the development.
Referring to the recent visit of an all-party delegation to New Delhi to urge Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene and ensure halting of Babli works, Naidu said the Prime Minister had not given any assurance as claimed by the Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
He said Dr Reddy also failed to bring pressure on the Maharashtra government though there were Congress-led governments in that state and at the Centre.
