Rally in Delhi for saving Ram Setu

Gwalior, Apr 1 (UNI) Sharda Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati today said that the four peeths' shankaracharyas and monks would take out a massive rally and conduct a religious meeting on May 13 at Delhi for saving Rameswaram's historic Ram Setu from demolition.

''A delegation met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard.

Dr Singh passed on the matter to the Minister concerned who happens to be the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's T R Baalu who is admant on demolishing the Setu. He is trying his level best to do so under the garb of having silt removed,'' he told mediapersons today.

The rally, to be attended by more than five lakh people, would submit a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister, the seer said while referring to the Setu's photographs by the United States' National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

''A petition will be also submitted in court,'' he said.

Squarely holding the Bharatiya Janata Party responsible for Ayodhya's Ram temple construction being placed on the backburner, the Swami accused the saffron party of fanning religious sentiments merely for coming to power.
