PTU cancels MSc paper following leak, VC orders probe

Fatehgarh Sahib, Apr 1 (UNI) The students of the third semester of MSc (IT) course of Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar were in for a rude shock on the April fool's day today when their paper was cancelled at the last moment on information about its leakage.

It took the authorities sometime at most of the centres to convince the students who first thought the announcement was a Fool's day joke.

The paper will now be conducted on April 25.

The university had set up around 78 examination centers in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the country but students were told just minutes before the examination that the paper had been cancelled.

The papers of under Distance Education System of the PTU started on March 26 last month, but papers of various subjects of various classes were allegedly leaked.

Sources said a Fatehgarh Sahib journalist e-mailed a question paper to the PTU V-C and Registrar before the start of today's paper.

PTU V-C S K Salwan informed that the University had postponed today's paper of advanced web development and information was quickly passed on to all centres about its cancellation. He said the University had ordered a high-level probe and The guilty would not be spared at any cost.
