President lauds Haryana herbal parks projects

Chandigarh, April 1 (UNI) President APJ Abdul Kalam has appreciated the Herbal Parks project of the Haryana Government and stressed that afforestation must be taken up to keep pace with urban development to maintain a sound ecological balance.

Haryana Minister of State for Tourism and Forests Kiran Choudhary, who called upon the President in New Delhi today, told reporters later that she had assured Dr Kalam that Haryana Government was committed to developing Herbal Parks in all the districts and was also striving to increase the forest cover in the State.

Dr Kalam had inaugurated the first Herbal Park in Yamunanagar district of the State and had evinced keen interest in the promotion of more such parks.

Ms Choudhary assured the President that Herbal Parks would be developed in a big way in the State. Besides, efforts would also be made to increase the forest cover from 6.6 per cent to 10 per cent by the year 2010.
