Hubli, Apr 1 (UNI) A 20-member gang involved in tortoises transportation was nabbed by Gadag police in the early hours of today.

Acting on a tip off, police chased the gang and seized two Tortoises and two vehicles in all worth Rs. Five lakh, used in the crime.

But, eight members of the gang landed in Gadag district hospital as the villagers of Lakkundi village beat them suspecting them to be dacoits.

The gang was supposed finalize the deal of tortoises at a Dhaba (road side hotel) near Lakkundi village.

When the members saw police coming towards them started running and the villagers, who suspected them started beating them injuring ten members.
