PM may visit Sri Lanka soon
New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh may soon visit Sri Lanka, breaking a 20-year old 'jinx.' Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon, while briefing reporters on the outcome of the two-day deliberations of the 33rd SAARC Standing Committee meeting here, hoped the visit would take place soon.
''We are looking at it. We hope it will happen soon,'' he said in reply to a question by a Sri Lankan journalist that no Indian Prime Minister had gone on an official visit to the island nation in the past 20 years.
Mr Menon however, recalled that then Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had visited Sri Lanka in 1998 for the SAARC summit.
