New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) A non-resident Indian living in Canada has been arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here in response to a red corner notice issued by the Interpol for allegedly killing his wife.

Avtar Singh Grewal, who arrived here yesterday, was arrested by the CBI sleuths on his arrival from Phoenix, United States, where his wife Navneet lived, said the CBI here today.

''The arrest was made within 12 hrs of the Red Corner Notice issued against the accused by the US Police,'' the agency said.

Grewal was produced before a CBI Special Magistrate today who sent him to judicial custody for two days.

CBI sources said as India had extradition treaty with the US, there would not be any problem in extraditing Avtar to the US, where the crime was committed.

The couple had married two years back but relations between the two became strained soon after.

Soon after Navneet's death on March 30 last, Avtar fled from there after which the US police issued a red corner notice the following day.

Following the RCN, CBI alerted airports across the country, leading to Avtar's arrest last evening.
