New Greyhounds unit to start operation soon
Visakhapatnam, Apr 1 (UNI) The new unit of specialised police under taking anti-Naxal operation ''reyhounds'' set up at Bakkannapalem village will start operation very soon, official sources said today.
Sources said two more Greyhounds units would be set up at Kurnool and Kadapa districts to check Maoist movement.
Each unit, with 1,000 personnel, would have latest communication equipments, explosive experts and dog squads.
The unit would be headed by an official of the rank of Superintendent of Police.
Following high Maoist operations, security had been beefed up at Chintapalli, Aruku, G K Veedhi, Koyyuru and other agency mandals bordering Orissa, the sources added.
