Nepali woman commits suicide following footsteps of husband

Chennai, Apr 1 (UNI) In a heart-rending incident, a dejected Nepali woman today committed suicide by jumping into a pond in which her husband drowned yesterday while attempting to save a boy.

Police said Rudra Bowdel, a Nepali citizen working as a security guard at an engineering college in suburban Maduravoyal, was living with his wife Kalpana near the Institution.

Yesterday, a ten-year-old boy, who was the son of another Nepali security guard, accidentally fell into the pond while playing.

On hearing his screams, Rudra jumped into the pond and attempted to save the boy. But, he drowned along with the boy.

Unable to bear the grief, Kalpana chose to end her life by jumping into the same pond in the early hours today, the police added.
