Manipur Cabinet discusses sectoral allocation

Imphal, Apr 1(UNI) The Manipur Cabinet has discussed about sectoral allocation of the state plan for 2006-07.

Officials here today said an amount of Rs 1374.31 crores was sanctioned for the current financial year which begins today.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who also holds the Finance portfolio, presided over the meeting and there will be increase in allocation of some major schemes related to health, education officials said.

The Village and Small Scale Industries would be provided Rs 17 crores and Rs 50.54 crores has been allotted for Loktak Development Authority to take up works to protect the Loktak lake.

During the current financial year about Rs 75 crores will be allotted for construction of Mini Secretariats in all the district headquarters, Manipur Bhavan at Guwahati and some bridges.

The Imphal City Water Supply Phase-II will be taken up and also Churachandpur Water Supply Scheme. The BRO which has been entrusted the work of looking after the national highways in Manipur will also develop Old Cachar Road.
