India welcomes Interim Government in Nepal

New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) India today welcomed the constitution of the Interim government in Nepal under Prime Minister G P Koirala, describing it as another step towards implementation of the peace process.

A spokesman of the External Affairs Ministry said the formation of the Interim government was also a step towards creation of conditions in which the people of Nepal could determine their future through free and fair elections to the Constituent Assembly.

The spokesman said India also looked forward to working with the Interim Government to further strengthen traditionally close and mutually-beneficial relations between the two neighbours.

''While continuing our support to the people and political parties in Nepal to carry forward the peace process, the government of India looks foward to working with the interim government to further strengthen India's traditionally close and mutually beneficial relations with Nepal,'' the spokesman said.
