Heroin worth Rs 60 lakh seized
Kishanganj,Bihar, Apr 1 (UNI) A high-level para-military team of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) busted a syndicate of narcotic traffickers and seized heroin worth over Rs 60 lakh from Thakurganj, 45 km from here, last evening, officials today said.
Acting on a tip-off that the narcotic syndicate's kingpins were clinching a deal with another gang, the SSB team headed by Commandant Sunil Kumar Chopra, Deputy Commandant and Thakurganj police inspector Arbind Kumar Singh laid a trap and intercepted a private car SSB Deputy Commandant Manvendra Negi here said.
They seized a packet of heroin and arrested three people in this connection, he added.
The traffickers were identified as Md Karim, Shamsher and Akhtar Alam from Pothia of the district.
Mr Negi said the syndicate of the traffickers, who had a wide network and connections elsewhere, had already brought a consignment of at least four packets of narcotics and stacking them at Pothia.
They had also struck a deal with other gangs and had already delivered three packets.
He said the traffickers were being interrogated.
