Nandigram, Apr 1 (UNI) Renewed tension brewed in Nandigram today after a half-burnt body of a child was recovered at Khejuri near Bhangabera bridge here.

Bhumi Uchhed Protirodh Committee members, who had taken out a procession mourning the March 14 carnage near the bridge, dug up a half-burnt dead body of a child buried in the ashes, police said.

The Committee claimed that it was one of the bodies missing since the police excesses here in which 14 people were killed and over 71 injured.

Several people went missing after the incident. The members demanded fresh investigation to trace those missing.

The committee members also breached the road links from Khejuri leading into Nandigram, that was repaired by the state administration a week back.

Superintendant of Police A S Srinivas and Additional SP Debasis Boral, along with a large posse of police personnel, rushed to the spot to prevent any untoward incident.

Some CPI(M) cadres have also gathered in the area.
