Dona Ganguly to perform at Sankatmochan Sangeet Samaroh
Varanasi, Apr 1 (UNI) Gifted Odissi dancer Dona Ganguly, who is also the better half of former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly will perform on the inaugural evening of the world famous Sankatmochan Sangeet Samaroh starting here from April 6 next.
Celebrated classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj and Santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma will also perform on the inaugural evening of the 84th edition of music and dance festival to be organised at the Sankatmochan Temple-- which was a target of a terrorist attack-- from April 6 to April 10, Mahant of the 17th century temple Virbhadra Mishra told newspersons here today.
The other prominent artists who will perform during the festival include Sunanda Patnaik (vocalist), jugalbandi between Pandit Kadari Gopal Nath (Saxophone) and Pandit Ronu Mazumdar (flute), Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra (vocalist brothers), Ratikant-Sujata Mohapatra (Odissi dancing couple) and father son duo of Pandit Bhajan Sopori and Abhay Rustom Sopori (Santoor), Prof Mishra added.
The festival is organised every year to mark the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations.
