CRPF's country tour for underprivileged Kashmiri students

Srinagar, Apr 1 (UNI) ''Ehsas'', a countrywide tour organised by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for the underprivileged students of Kashmir, has been flagged off from here.

The tour, as part of the CRPF's Operation Aman, was aimed at strengthening the bonds between the children of Rahat Ghar, an orphanage, with their motherland.

As many as 40 girls, 27 boys, 3 teachers and 3 maids of the Rahat Ghar left here for New Delhi last evening as part of the group which would visit several places in the country.

The children would also get to known the cultural heritage of the country during the fortnight-long tour, a CRPF spokesman said.

In the first leg, the children would visit Amritsar, particularly the Goldren Temple and Jalianwalan Bagh. They will also witness the grand ceremony of retreat at the Wagah border.

The children would then proceed to Delhi and interact with President A P J Abdul Kalam, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil besides other dignitaries and the CRPF Director General.

In the national capital, they would visit Red Fort, Jamia Mosque, Qutub Minar, the shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin and the Lotus Temple, the spokesman added.

Their next halt would be at Ajmer in Rajasthan where they would also pay a visit to the Pink city of Jaipur, Hawa Mahal and other historical palaces.

The last leg of the tour would take them to the Chandigarh, a symbol of urban planning and modern architecture.

The spokesman said the most important aspect of tour was the inclusion of girls of Rahat Ghar, a deviation from the past when only boys were sent on such events.
