Congress wins Rajnandgaon LS by-poll

Rajnandgaon, Apr 1 (UNI) In a major blow to the ruling party in Chhattisgarh, Congress today wrested the Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha seat, defeating its nearest BJP rival by an impressive margin of more than 50000 votes in the by-election.

As the counting began at 0800 hours, Mr Devavrat Singh (Congress) established a lead over his nearest BJP rival Leelaram Bhojwani, a former minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh, in all the eight assembly segments of the constituency. He also maintained his lead throughout the counting.
