Chennai city police will go hi-tech to handle emergencies
Chennai, Apr 1 (UNI) After Delhi, the police force in Chennai city is now all set to go hi-tech with provision of gliders to respond immediately to emergency calls.
The city police would place orders for four gliders on a trial basis and depending on the success, the aircraft would be provided to other parts of Tamil Nadu, police sources said.
The Chennai police would be the second police force in the country to be provided with gliders.
The sources said the light aircraft would come in handy to deal with problems arising out of increasing population and expansion of Chennai city.
It would also prove useful in responding quickly to emergency calls like accidents, clearing traffic congestion and rescue operations, the sources added.
The police personnel would be imparted training in paragliding by a Kerala-based para motoring training institute.
