Buddhadeb meets Sonia, discusses SEZ

New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has discussed the SEZ issue with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

In a meeting with her last night, Mr Bhattacharjee, who was accompanied by CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechuri, put forward the situation on the controversial issue and asked for a comprehensive response from the Centre.

Sources told UNI that they also brought to Ms Gandhi's notice ''the functioning of some Congress leaders in West Bengal in regard to the whole issue''.

The Chief Minister has come here to attend a CPI(M) meeting.

The Left leaders are also believed to have discussed other issues related to industrialisation in the state.

The SEZ issue had recently flared up when 14 people died in police firing, protesting against acquisition of their land in the proposed SEZ at Nandigram.
