With Ph I polling next week, BJP unleashes star campaigners

Lucknow, Mar 31 (UNI) With the first phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections less than a week away, the main opposition BJP plans to intensify canvassing with a host of star campaigners addressing rallies in the constituencies going to polls on April 7.

The party's star campaigners inlcude top leaders L K Advani, party president Rajnath Singh, cricket star and BJP MP from Amritsar Navjot Singh Sidhu, film stars Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini and television star and BJP member Smriti Irani.

Mr Advani will start his campaign on April 3 from Hathras followed by a series of election meetings in Etah and Kanpur.

BJP President Rajnath Singh would be touring the constituencies of Etawah, Mainpuri, Mahoba and Agra tomorrow, while party's chief ministerial candidate Kalyan Singh would be in Etawah and Mainpuri tomorrow, in Tundla, Ferozabad and Agra on April 2, and in Etah and Mainpuri region on April 3 and 4.

Shatrughan Sinha would address public meetings in Agra and Kanpur on April 3 and 4 respectively. Hema Malini would be in Etah and Agra tomorrow. Sidhhu will campaign in Bundelkhand region of Jhansi and Lalitpur on April 3 while on the same day, Smriti Irani would address election meetings in Kanpur.
