Two more held in LTTE smuggling case
Chennai, Mar 31 (UNI) The Q Branch Police have arrested two more persons for smuggling of ball-bearings to LTTE camps in Sri Lanka.
Police said Ramchandram, a lorry driver, and Sukumaran were held yesterday by a special team that raided a godown in Valasarawakkam.
They were being interrogated.
Questioning revealed that Ramachandran had once smuggled 12 tonne of ball-bearings to Sri Lanka via sea for the LTTE.
Meanwhile, Q branch sources said key accused Ramesh Kumar of Pudukkottai, who surrendered before a city court recently, had thrown light on the modus operandi of the main culprits, who were at large.
He confessed that he had twice visited Lanka carrying materials and spare parts for the banned outfit on the advice of one Jayaraman, who coaxed him to take up smuggling.
The police had launched a manhunt to nab Jayaraman and his accomplice Sathish, who are said to be kingpins behind the smuggling of ball-bearings to Sri Lanka.
