Three gang members involved in collecting ransom nabbed; arms seized

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Mar 31 (UNI) Three members of a gang involved in extorting money were arrested and six fire arms seized from them here today.

Acting on a tip-off that the accused were at a city hotel, the police team, led by inspector Kishore Karande, raided the room and arrested them, city police chief Uddhav Kamble said here.

The seizure included one foreign made revolver (webley scott), three foreign made pistols and two country-made pistols besides 36 live cartridges, one knife, four mobile sets. The total value of the seizure is around Rs 5 lakh.

The accused are residents of Pune district and have been identified as Shekhar Vankhede (27), Raju Bhalerao (23) and Mohsin Mulani (23).

During interrogation, the trio said they had gone to Kanpur to place on order for arms. ''It is suspected that the accused are also involved in sale of arms,'' Mr Kamble said.
