Some foreigners causing law and order problem in HP: CM

Shimla, Mar 31 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said a section of foreign tourists was causing law and order problems in the state by indulging in drug trafficking.

A number of these foreigners, after jumping their visa period, get involved in drug trafficking and cause law and order problem, Mr Singh said while presiding over the 117th meeting of the Board of Directors of the HP Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) here.

Expressing concern over the trend, Mr Singh directed the authorities to maintain strict vigil over such visitors and stressed that the validity of their traveling documents must be monitored regularly.

Information of people whose visas have expired should be passed on to the authorities concerned as soon as possible, he said.

Mr Singh said cyber cafes, restaurants and business establishments, which were not registered and were operating in the inner parts of the state, should also be checked regularly.

State Tourism Minister G S Bali, state Chief Secretary S S Parmar and HPTDC Managing Director Tarn Shridhar were also present on the occasion.
