SJVNL declares 54cr R

Shimla, Mar, 31: Public Sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVNL) has announced Rs 54 crore rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) plan for the families affected by the 412 MW Rampur hydel project being set up at Rampur in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh.

The decision was taken at a meeting attended by gram pardhans of affected villages and families, representative of local administration and World Bank and project officers, company's DGM (R&R) R R Sinha said in a statement yesterday.

He said a number of schemes were being implemented for the rehabilitation and welfare of the project affected families, who were being given a cash compensation ranging from Rs 45,000 to Rs 65,000.

Additionally, the families rendered homeless would also be given lands and grants for construction of buildings at the rate of Rs 3,000 per meter and up to the construction of 60 mtrs, Mr Sinha said.

He added the affected families would also be provided a one-time grant of Rs 5,000 for transportation of household facilities to their new housing location.

The project authorities would also provide educational facilities for the children of the affected families, he said, adding that the SJVNL would also provide scholarships of Rs 800 to Rs 1,500 for 30 students for vocational training.

Under the plan, a sum of Rs 30,000 per family would be provided for the implementation of income generation schemes for promoting self-employment and small businesses, he added.
