Sethu alignment ''scientifically wrong'': Joshi

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 31 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Murli Manohar Joshi today said the ongoing construction on the Sethusamudram project should be stopped immediately as its alignment was ''scientifically wrong.'' Talking to newspersons here, he sought a detailed study in this matter and said he had already written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard. A scientific study should be conducted before going ahead with the project, he added.

If the present alignment was carried out, Kerala would be the ''worst effected'' in the event of tsunami in future, he said.

He urged the political parties in Kerala and Defence Minister A K Antony to take up the matter with the Centre to protect the interests of the state.

Referring to the Nandigram incident, he said the incident had exposed ''two faces'' of the CPI(M).
