Science-based dailies needed: Kalam
Jaipur, March 31 (UNI) Emphasising the need for more science-based daily newspapers in the country, President A P J Abdul Kalam expressed his interest to write a column in a fortnightly science journal published from here.
During his one-day visit here yesterday, President Kalam praised journal's (Vaigyanik Drishtikone) chief editor Kamal Rathore and editor Tarun K Jain for their consistent efforts to keep the publication alive.
Mr Jain said Dr Kalam on larning to know about by the ''English page'' in the journal, expressed his desire to write in the fornightly. The journal has been publishing a series on Dr Kalam titled 'Kalam Hamare hero' for quite sometime now and the journals were gifted to him. The President also told them about a Chinese daily science newspaper.
Dr Kalam also talked at length with scientist Suresh Sharma who has been instrumental in patenting a diabetes remedy from Kadam tree.
The President also met Jaipur's oldest man Habib Miya, who's 137 year old now.
