Nanded experiences mild tremors
Nanded, Maharashtra, Mar 31 (UNI) Mild tremors were felt today in various parts of the city and its surrounding areas, sources in the Seismological Centre at Latur said.
The tremors were recorded at 1256 hrs and 1431 hrs. The intensity of these shocks was 1.3 and 1.8 on the Richter scale, Pravin Varshikar, duty officer at the Centre told UNI over telephone.
''Both the tremors were mild and there is no need to worry,'' Mr Varshikar said.
However, Srinagar colony and ITI locality were the worst affected areas, with cracks developing on the house walls, the sources said.
Frightened residents came out of their houses in various localities of the city.
Nanded District Collector Radheshyam Mopalwar has convened an emergency meeting of the officials.
Maharashtra Industry Minister Ashok Chavan, who is also the Guardian Minister of the district, is expected to chair the meeting.
MLAs Anusaya Khedkar, Bhaskarrao Patil-Khatgaonkar are likely to attend the meeting.
