Maoist attack police station in Sitamarhi

Sitamarhi, Mar 31 (UNI) More than 100 activists of the proscribed CPI (Maoist) today attacked the Riga police station in the naxalite-affected district and opened indiscriminate fire.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Tirhut range) Gupteshwar Pandey told UNI that the Maoists swooped down on the police station and fired indiscriminately which was returned by the security personnel.

Mr Pandey said additional security forces had been rushed to Riga after receipt of the news of the incident.

He said the border of the affected district had been sealed.
