Mahavir Jayanti celebrated

Imphal, Mar 31 (UNI) Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated today by the Jain community of Manipur.

A large number of people congregated at the Jain Mandir in Imphal where prayers were held.

Manipur Governor Dr S S Sidhu, after greeting the people of the state, said, ''While celebrating the birth of Lord Mahavir, we must follow the ideals, principles and eternal values espoused by him.'' ''Let us also pledge to follow His ideal Live and Let Live,'' the Governor said.

He hoped that peace will come back to Manipur as desired by Lord Mahavir.
