LeT militant killed, JeM arreted, hideout busted in J
Srinagar, Mar 31 (UNI) Security forces gunned down a militant of Pakistan based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT), arrested an ultra of Jaish-e- Mohammad (JeM) and busted a hideout in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
At least thirteen people were injured in a militant hand grenade attack in the state during the period, an official spokesman said.a He said a patrol party of 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) was today fired upon by militants at Tilet Banjwa, Gandoh, in Doda district of Jammu region last night. Troops also retaliated and in the fierce clash one militant of LeT Mohammad Ali was killed. However, other militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness. One hand grenade, four magzines of INSAS rifle were recovered from the slain militant.
A report from Jammu said militants lobbed a hand grenade towards Kishtwar police station in the same district last night. However, it missed the intended target and exploded near a telephone booth causing injuries to 13 persons. Militants later managed to escape before security forces could seal the area.
Spokesman said police arrested a JeM militant at Sangrama in Baramulla district last night alongwith two hand grenades.
Jammu and Kashmir police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) unearthed a hideout which was being used by the militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) for the past two years in south Kashmir.
A police spokesman said troops of 166 battalion CRPF and police conducted a joint search operation at Saidpora, Shopian, about 55 km from here in south Kashmir district of Pulwama following a tip off about the militant hideout.
He said during the operation an underground hideout constructed in the orchard of Basharat Ahmad Bhat was busted.
About two quintals of Rice, one quital of flour, other eatable items and some blankets were recovered from the hideout.
Meanwhile, 50 Rashtriya Rifles during search operation at high reaches of village Pastuna jurisdiction of police station Tral, recovered three UBGL grenade, one UBGL and two Chinese grenades.
