JNU students shout down Arjun Singh in campus
New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) Anti-quota students at JNU today demonstrated and raised slogans against Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh minutes before his address at a function in the University.
The students, who boycotted the symposium organised by the School of Social Studies in the campus, vented their ire against the minister for his comments on OBC reservation after the Supreme Court stayed the Government's Decision on 27 per cent quota.
Security personnel posted at the venue removed the students.
Reacting to the apex court order, Mr Singh had said the government will take all constitutional and legal measures required to ensure that the law was finally found valid.
''I am fully confident that the apex court will finally hold the law valid,'' he told reporters here.
In a major blow to the Government, the Supreme Court on March 29 stayed till further orders the operation of the notification providing 27.5 per cent reservations to the OBCs in admission to the centrally-run educational institutions from the academic year 2007-2008.
