Inter state robbers from Maharashtra arrested

Hubli, Mar 31 (UNI) Police have arrested ten interstate robbers including seven from Maharashtra and seized gold biscuits, cash and other materials including two vehicles used for cheating and robbing people.

Police said here today that the modus operandi of the gang was to show people real gold biscuits and sell fake gold biscuits.

It also robbed them of their cash after taking them to the outskirts of the city.

A team of police officials headed by an Assistant Police Commissioner raided a hotel in the city last night while the gang was making plans for an operation.

The police also seized 20 fake gold biscuits, two real gold biscuits worth over Rs.1.30 lakh, lathis, iron rods, chilly power, knives and two vehicles - A Tata Sumo and a Tata Indica.

The police disclosed the names of the arrested persons as Dhrmesh Naidu, Ashok Naidu, Rohit Kadam, Rajender Jain, Bajrang Gawane, Vasim Patel, Datta Adike, all hailing from Maharashtra and Vijay Ayal of Mudhol, M Subbarao of Bangalore and Ravindranath Hanchate of Bellary.
